Lesson Plans.
During my PS1, I was given the opportunity to teach the non-contact forces unit in grade 4 science. This lesson was my very first time teaching, the first time my University Consultant observed me, and the first time my students were introduced to the idea of non-contact forces. There was lots of “firsts” within these 80 minutes! My students had so much fun exploring the differences of contact forces and non-contact forces through interactive elements. To formatively assessed my students, I asked them to give me a “fist-to-five” to reflect their current understanding of the lesson. After an exciting and active brain break, we did some quiet work in their provided workbooks where students were able to personally reflect on the lesson. Overall, this lesson was simple, interactive, effective, and most importantly, fun!

This lesson was near the end of my grade 5’s divisibility unit. In order to make learning divisibility rules as exciting as possible, I created simple chants to go along with each rule. I was surprised by how engaged and enthusiastic my students were during this unit. I heard them practicing their chants in the hallways, teaching their friends, and even creating their own! My mentor teacher was impressed with how easily the students were able to memorize all 10 of the divisibility rules. We took some videos for her to use for her future classes! Down below is a video of my students performing all of the divisibility rules they learned!
